Tricia Madison

Occupational Therapist Registered/Licensed

Year I joined CT:

2009

Why I became an OT:

I became an occupational therapist because I am driven to help others, am motivated to solve problems, and believe every individual deserves a chance to meet their maximum potential.

My extraordinary therapy moment:

There have been countless moments during my career that will stay with me for the rest of my life.  The most fulling changes I have facilitated have been when children who are terrified of the world and have very little social connection to anyone look around and see past their 2 foot bubble, begin to interact with others, begin to have fun in their world, and parents begin to enjoy time with their child versus feel overwhelmed or focused on their child’s deficits.

More about me:

I graduated from The College of St. Scholastica with my Master’s of Arts in Occupational Therapy in 2005. I have worked with individuals with special needs since 2002 as a PCA, camp counselor, and group home staff. I have two children, one of which has ADHD and Autism and has also received therapy. I believe my experiences as a parent to a child with special needs has helped me grow as a therapist and allows me to be a better support to the families I work with.

In my spare time,:

I enjoy spending time with my family, scrapbooking, and playing word-games.

Special training, certification, and interests:

I am certified to provide S.O.S feeding, Interactive Metronome, Therapeutic Listening, and the DIR ®/Floortime ™ approach. I have extensive training in sensory processing, visual perceptual development, and executive functioning. I like to foster pretend play skills in children to help develop important social and problem solving skills; and feels it is important to address behavior by altering tasks in order to give a child the just right challenge.
