Jen Lunde, MA, OTR/L
Jennifer Lunde
Occupational Therapist Registered/Licensed
Year I joined CT:
2004
Why I became an OT:
My mother was an OT in the school systems and whenever I had a day off of school I would go to work with her. There was one young girl with autism who was non-verbal. I was intrigued by her and spent a lot of time observing her. Watching her growth and connections during the therapy process was what made me want to become an OT. I love to work with families to help their child reach their fullest potential. Both of my children have received occupational therapy services so I understand what it is like to be both therapist and parent and I feel that helps me form a deeper connection to my clients’ families.
More about me:
When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and 2 children. We like to play board games, watch movies, and explore fun family activities in the cities. I also like making scrapbooks of the thousands of photos I take each year. However, finding time to do so proves challenging. I am involved in the PTA at my children’s school and enjoy volunteering in their classrooms when I can. I love to travel and am looking forward to visiting Disney World with my family someday.
Special training, certification, and interests:
Over the years, I have taken a large variety of continuing education courses, including topics such as nutrition, behavior management, auditory processing, sensory processing, oral motor difficulties, praxis/motor planning, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and more. I have additional training in Beckman’s Oral Motor Protocol, the Floortime Approach, and Sensory Integration theory and treatment. Before my work as an occupational therapist, I was trained as an in-home ABA therapist. I am interested in a holistic approach to intervention and am especially interested in underlying biological issues such as food sensitivities and how they impact a child’s ability to function.
