Why I became an OT:

There are many reasons I decided to become an OT, but my first encounter continues to be my driving force. In high school I was able to volunteer in an elementary special education classroom for children with Autism.  During my hour in that classroom, the school OT ran a motor group that I was fortunate to be able to help with for the school year.  I was able to see the changes and engagement that occurred in this group that were not seen in their classroom, and how much fun the OT running the group was having.  I was instantly hooked on the profession.  I have always known I wanted to help children, but I didn’t know how best to do it until I met that school OT.  The more I researched, the more I knew I wanted to be an OT.  I wanted to help the children who needed it most and have fun while doing it.  Which is still the case today and why I love what I do!

More about me:

Outside of work, my driving force is my family.  I am married and have 2 kids of my own, who I spend most of my free time enjoying life with and making memories while they are still little.  On the rare occasion I am completely alone, you will most likely find me nose deep in a book, scrapbooking, or working on a house project.
