Safe and Sound Protocol
The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a listening-based program designed to support nervous system regulation, improve auditory processing, and help children feel more calm, connected, and engaged.
Using five hours of specially filtered music in a structured, therapist-guided format, SSP can be a helpful addition to occupational therapy for children and families working on regulation, sound sensitivities, and social engagement.
SSP is a private-pay program that is not billable to insurance but may be covered by a waiver.
Therapeutic Listening
Therapeutic Listening (TL) is a sound-based program that supports nervous system regulation, attention, and sensory processing. It uses specially modified music to provide organized auditory input that may help children with focus, self-regulation, response to sound, motor planning, coordination, and participation in everyday routines. This program is highly individualized and works best as part of a broader therapy plan that includes movement, play, and other sensory-based activities.
TL is completed over two, 30-minute listening sessions per day, up to seven days per week. TL is a private-pay program that is not billable to insurance but may be covered by a waiver.
Integrated Listening Systems (ILS)
ILS is a multisensory listening and movement program that supports brain and body organization. It may be helpful for children who need additional support with attention, sensory processing, regulation, motor coordination, and learning readiness.
Can be administered at home under supervision.
Combines specially designed music with movement activities.
Supports attention, focus, and self-regulation.
May help with sensory-motor skills, auditory processing, and coordination.
Can be tailored to a child’s individual needs and therapy goals, as part of a broader therapy plan.
ILS programs are 40 to 75 sessions long, 60 minutes per session, once daily, up to five days per week. ILS is a private-pay program that is not billable to insurance but may be covered by a waiver.
Teletherapy
For some children, teletherapy through our HIPAA-compliant portal may be appropriate and effective, following an in-person initial evaluation. Other children would substantially benefit from our well-equipped sensory gyms and treatment spaces in-clinic. Our therapists can help determine if teletherapy is right for your family. Teletherapy works best when:
travel to a clinic location would be difficult
parent or caregiver is available for the full duration of each session to facilitate and support therapy activities under the therapist’s direction
To participate in teletherapy, you need:
laptop, Chromebook, or tablet with microphone and camera, which can be moved as needed for different therapy activities
good, reliable internet connection
We are accepting new patients as therapist caseload allows.
We focus on serving each family we meet to the best of our abilities, rather than scheduling as many patients as possible! We specialize in trauma-informed occupational therapy, feeding therapy, speech therapy, and physical therapy for kids in Maplewood and Plymouth, MN.
