Meet Our Team
Patricia Madison, MA, OTR/L
I graduated from the College of St. Scholastica with a Masters in Occupational Therapy. My practice areas of interest include trauma-informed care; improving self-regulation through development of self-esteem; Praxis (ideation, motor planning, motor execution); and developing independence in play.
More about me!
I have two sons who are "mostly grown" and am anticipating the transition to being an empty nester. My oldest son has ADHD and Autism, so I have developed a better understanding over the years on how that plays out in the family dynamic. As a parent there are things we get right and things we get wrong, and I feel both have made me a much better therapist. There is nothing I enjoy more than spending my summers weeding, digging in the dirt and planting flowers. In the winter you can find me reading or sitting at my puzzle table at home. I also enjoy going for long walks and doing yoga in order to keep myself centered and ready to play!
My extraordinary therapy moment:
Over 20+ years of therapy there are so many kids, parents, and families that I hold dear to my heart. Of all the moments in therapy, the most memorable to me are always watching the kids who seem to be stuck, shutdown, or unsure of themselves develop improvement in body awareness, motor planning and strength which then blossoms into big changes in self-esteem. Watching kids who are sitting on the sidelines in life become playful and engaged with others is what drives me to to continue practicing occupational therapy.
