Meet Our Team

Leah Downey, OTD, OTR/L

I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy, and then recently went back to school and got my Doctorate of Occupational Therapy from St. Catherine University. My practice areas of interest include sensory integration and praxis, trauma-informed care, and helping children build skills in areas such as fine motor, self-regulation and social skills. I am also continually seeking to grow my knowledge and practice in the areas of maternal health and perinatal support.

More about me!
I spend my time outside of work with my husband and two young children - who keep me very busy! We like to play outside, read, listen to music, and play games together. I also like to paddle board on the lakes, knit, and attend comic cons!

Why I became an OT:
I knew I wanted to be an occupational therapist ever since I was young and would tag along to my little sister's OT appointments. I thought occupational therapists had the best job in the world because they got to play with kids all day. And then I grew up and found out that occupational therapists DO have the best job in the world because they get to play with kids all day in a way that actually helps them to learn and grow! I am so thankful that being an occupational therapist allows me to walk alongside children and families in helping them to achieve their goals and reach their fullest potential!
