Jennifer Lunde, MA, OTR/L

I graduated from College of Saint Scholastica with a Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy. I've been working in pediatrics for over 22 years. I am passionate about connecting with families and problem-solving ways to help their child thrive. I am interested in taking a holistic approach to occupational therapy treatment. I enjoy working with children who need help with regulation, connection and engagement, and sensory processing issues.

More about me!
I have lived in Minnesota all of my life. My mom was an OT in the schools when I was growing up and sometimes I would get to go to work with her. This is where I found my love for the job! I enjoy spending time with my husband and two teenage children. We have the cutest dog named Mochi! I like to travel and some of my favorite places I have visited are Hawaii, Paris, and Crater Lake. I like to watch movies, complete jigsaw puzzles, and make scrapbooks when I can find the time.

My extraordinary therapy moment:
My heart is full when a client that I work with has a breakthrough with connection and engagement. I worked with a non-verbal child with significant sensory needs, was emotionally distressed almost all of the time, could not tolerate clothing, and could not tolerate any change in routine. I worked with the parent on developing strategies to connect with their child and help soothe the child's distress. Within a few sessions, this sweet child finally looked up at my face and smiled. This was the moment that I knew real change was going to happen for this family. They started to use more eye contact, seek out their parent or me during sessions, and communicate with some signs and verbalizations. The parent was not constantly walking on eggshells anymore worrying that anything they did would send their child into more distress. As therapy progressed, this child was able to tolerate diaper changes, wear clothing, communicate effectively, and play with toys and friends. I will never forget the dramatic changes in this child.
